Pawcentric Pathways
Dog Training & behaviour

Hello, my name is April and I have worked with dogs professionally for the past 10 years after gaining a 1st class BA(Hons) degree in animal science. After that I went on to working in rescue kennels for 4 years before going self-employed and setting up this business in 2020. My main focus is that I always want every caregiver and their dog(s) to get the most out of each session/ class/ workshop. I offer a dog-centred approach where everything I do is tailored to each individual dog and group. All training is reward based/ force-free and I am continuously keeping up to date with the latest science around dog training and behaviour. All group sessions and 1:1's are relaxed, fun and focused on learning being fun for everyone! I always offer ongoing WhatsApp support for all clients.

I also offer dog-sitting, walks and pop-in services for clients. I started offering these services as many of the dogs I work with are not suited to typical day-care/ kennel settings. This is something I only offer to client dogs as they know me, they are comfortable around me and I understand their training plans and needs.

I currently share my home with 3 dogs. They are Winnie a Jack Russell Terrier, Incy a Black Labrador and Buzz a Dalmatian. I also have 2 young children so fully understand the joys and challenges of dogs and children! Life is certainly never dull.

Previously I have shared my life with a Springer Spaniel, Border Collies, an Australian Kelpie cross, Basset Hounds and a 14 year old Collie mix that I took home on foster who never left.

I also have a lot of experience in the world of dog sports. I have competed successfully in competitive obedience and agility in the past to high levels, including competing at Crufts. I no longer compete but I do integrate elements of my dog sporting background into 1:1 sessions and classes.

The business used to be called 'click trick dog training'. A question I got asked all the time is 'do you only do clicker training?' The answer to that is no! I may use clicker training for some elements of training but it is quite a small part. The reason I chose this as my name is because clicker training was where I started and what got me hooked onto the world of dog training! Since then my knowledge has grown hugely and I now take a holistic approach to everything I do using a variety of methods. I never stop learning and my toolbox is constantly growing! As a result, as of January 2025 the business was rebranded to 'Pawcentric Pathways'. The concept behind this is that there are many 'pathways' you can follow with the services I offer.

I cover Deal, Sandwich and Thanet as well as Dover, Folkestone, Hythe and all surrounding areas.

If you would like to get in touch the easiest way is to text/ WhatsApp me on 07840896964.  I can often have issues with emails/ replies landing in junk. I always aim to reply to all enquiries within 24-48 hours so if you haven't had a reply the chances are it hasn't reached me so please do try again.

If you want to keep up to date with everything going on please follow me on Facebook and Instagram. I announce new classes, updates and any last-minute spaces that come available on there. Any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.
