Pawcentric Pathways
Dog Training & behaviour
My values:
> I offer a guardian & dog centred approach - everything is tailored specifically for you and your dog.
> I genuinely care. I will not just offer you 1 session, give you a write-up and then send you on your way.
> I will support you through every step of this journey we are going to take together.
> I will not judge you. It doesn't matter what you've tried up to this point, if you've tried nothing at all, where your dog came from, if you feel like you've done it all wrong and things are spiralling out of control... NONE OF THAT MATTERS! I'm here to support you moving forwards... not looking back.
> Once you start with me, there's no looking back.
> Support, support & more support. I cannot emphasise that enough.
> 'Confidence first, everything else second'.
> Neither us or our dogs are any good in any situation if we do not feel confident. I apply this approach to everything I do. Yep - obedience skills are important. But your dog is not going to walk on a loose lead or recall if they are worried about what is going on around them. It's not because they don't want to - it's because they can't. So that is always where we start - with building confidence.
I am not just your dog trainer. I genuinely care and will be there for you every step of the way.

Testimonials:
'We first crossed paths with April about three years ago when our dog started showing signs of reactivity. From the moment April stepped into our home it was clear that she wasn't just there to train our dog she was committed to helping our entire family build a healthier, happier bond with Remus.' (Natasha, Marsha & Alaskan Klee Klai's Rogue & Remus).
'We started working with April on a regular basis and over the next couple of years did a mixture of 1:1's and group classes. It has been a real rollercoaster with progress and setbacks but April was there through everything. Having an anxious and scared dog can be a lonely and overwhelming place but I didn't feel like I was tackling it alone.' (Margaret & Romanian rescue mix Riley).
'We first went to Pawcentric for puppy training classes but have since done some 1:1 sessions too. April always puts the dog first and we love that. We've learned so much about advocating for our dog, how to support her, meet her needs and this in turn has helped us be better dog owners. We are super grateful and wouldn't be without our Pawcentric community now!' (Vicky, Tim & cockapoo Pepper).
'A little baby Rottie bundle of joy called Merlin joined our family and he was a little challenging at times! Although always cute. We started puppy training classes and then moved into life skills. All I can say is that what we learned was invaluable in making day to day life enjoyable for both Merlin and ourselves'. (Rottweiler Merlin's family, it's a big family!).
'April is very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what she does. She knows their limits and doesn't push them. She watches and listens to their body language and plans for their individual needs. She is realistic that it takes time and effort in some cases. April is always at the end of a text and has supported us when we have been at our wits end!' (Hannah, Tim & cockapoo Pip & Spanish water dog cross cavalier Oscar).
