Hello, my name is April and I have worked with dogs professionally for the past 10 years after gaining a 1st class BA(Hons) degree in animal science. After that I went on to work in a busy rescue kennels for 4 years before setting up this business in 2020 after the birth of my first son. 

What makes me different? My main focus is that I always want any guardian and their dog(s) that trusts me to be a part of their journey to get the most out of every moment of working with me. I offer a dog & guardian-centred approach where everything I do is tailored individually to each dog, team or group that I work with. All training is reward based/ force-free and I am continuously keeping up to date with the latest science in the world of dog training and behaviour. Even in the last 5 years things have moved on hugely and I am a very different trainer to the one I was when I started. It is such an exciting and developing industry to be a part of and I am always so grateful to all who have supported me and my growing business on this journey.

All my costs include full ongoing support via WhatsApp in-between sessions and access to my supportive WhatsApp community where you can chat with others facing similar challenges. It can be a lonely & isolating place to be whilst living with a dog with complex needs - I am on a mission to help stop anyone ever feeling alone in that journey. I am not just your dog trainer - I am also your support, guide and coach during this time. Dog training doesn't always go to plan and it can come with a heavy emotional toll on us too. I am here to help support and guide you through that journey. 

I also offer pet-sitting, walks and pop-in services for any of my clients - current or previous. I started offering these services as many of the dogs I work with are not suited to typical day-care/ kennel settings. This is something I only offer to client dogs as they know me, they are comfortable around me and I understand their training plans and needs.

I currently share my home with 3 dogs. They are Winnie a Jack Russell Terrier, Incy a Black Labrador and Buzz a Dalmatian. I also have 2 young children so fully understand the joys and challenges of dogs and children! Life is certainly never dull.

Previously I have shared my life with a Springer Spaniel, Border Collies, an Australian Kelpie cross, Basset Hounds and a 14 year old Collie mix that I took home on foster who never left.

I have a lot of experience in the world of dog sports having successfully competed in competitive obedience and agility to high levels, including competing at Crufts. I do not currently compete (not yet!) but I do integrate elements of my dog sporting background into 1:1 sessions and classes. I also run fun agility classes and can offer agility/ obedience coaching to those wishing to train for competition level.

The business was previously known as 'click trick dog training'. A question I got asked all the time is 'do you only do clicker training?' The answer to that is no! I may use clicker training for some elements of training but it is quite a small part. The reason I chose the name is because clicker training was where I started and is how I became hooked onto the world of dog training! Since then my knowledge has grown hugely and I now take a holistic approach to everything I do using a wide variety of methods. I never stop learning and my toolbox is constantly growing! As a result, as of January 2025 the business was rebranded to 'Pawcentric Pathways'.

I cover Deal, Sandwich and Thanet as well as Dover, Folkestone, Hythe and all surrounding areas.
